My favorite scene in Mary Poppins has always been when Mary, Michael, and Jane meet Bert the chimney sweep as he's drawing beautiful pictures on the sidewalk, and they are magically able to jump into the photos and discover a fanciful world inside.

This scene is even more meaningful to me right now, as my family and millions of others are in lockdown, staying within the walls of our home and the confines of our yard, yearning to be part of the world again.

That's why I decided this was the perfect scene to inspire our Mary Poppins themed month of Family Dinner Book Club. Even though we can't travel the world, we can take the opportunity to get outside, enjoy the fresh air, and have some fun with sidewalk chalk.
