Family Friendly Entryway Makeover on a Budget

Give your foyer a makeover with this budget friendly project! Store kids shoes and winter gear with this colorful and cozy entryway idea.

My house has a wonderful foyer, but unfortunately I have been neglecting it for far too long. It's the first place you see when you step inside my home, but lately it has just become a dumping ground for shoes, hats, and mittens, and when the weather is bad, a place covered with muddy dog paw prints. My entryway was in desperate need of a makeover and I needed to do it on a budget. One trip to Dollar General and my foyer is now cozy and functional, without breaking the bank!

My foyer before (ugh). I have this wonderful entryway table that I LOVE, but once I took down the Christmas decorations it was just so bare. There's not much but a stack of Christmas cards, no where for my keys (so I'm always looking for them), and a jumble of shoes and winter gear underneath. It needed some serious help. I headed to Dollar General to get organized and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out!

I started by straightening up the shoes on the bottom shelf and adding this adorable rug. It adds just the right pop of color and gives us a warm spot for our cold toes.

On the top shelf, I added this great basket to contain all our hats and gloves. The boys can still reach in a grab their stuff (or put it away) but it keeps everything in one place and out of sight.

I also included a towel to wipe the dogs' feet when they come inside, and a blanket. The blanket is my mom's snow day hack - when it snows, throw a washable blanket down on the floor to catch all your snowy boots and clothes. It protects the floor (and my new rug!) and you can toss everything in the wash when you're done.

For the tabletop, I started with this pretty lamp. It is getting dark so early right now that it's nice to have a table lamp to switch on in the afternoon instead of the big overhead light. I love the detail on this and that I was able to mix and match to get the perfect shade.

I added a small bin for my keys and odds and ends. I picked a cheery green color that's bright and happy. The finishing touch is the art for the wall - I love how the background perfectly complements my new lamp shade and the colors tie together with the rug. And the message is just too sweet - our home IS filled with love and dreams!

The finished product! I truly couldn't be happier with how it turned out. It's colorful, cozy, and functional too. My boys can still reach their shoes and winter gear, but everything is tidy and clean. And since I was able to get everything from Dollar General (and saved even more with DG Digital Coupons), I stayed in my budget with room to spare!
