How to Find a Book Club for Moms

Find a book club that's right for you with these awesome tips! Moms book clubs are everywhere, online and in your town. Use these suggestions to find your perfect book club and make time for yourself!

My moms book club is my sanity saver. I was lucky to find a book club that I loved before I had kids, and it was often the highlight of my month. I moved to an online book club when it got too hard to get out every month and as a mom home with twins all day, my book club is sometimes a lifeline. It's an opportunity for me to get together, even virtually, with other women and have wonderful conversation every month that doesn't revolve around the potty, Paw Patrol, or the absolute necessity of drinking from a blue cup vs. a red cup.

But even more than the great book discussion, having a monthly book club forces me to indulge in something that I have always loved - reading. Of course I read now more than ever, if you count reading Everyone Poops 20 times in a day. But reading just for myself is easily something that I could push to the back burner. There's always another load of laundry to fold, dishes to put away, you know the drill. Moms are always pushing their own hobbies and interests to the side to take care of everyone else. Having my book club on the calendar gives me the strength to ignore the laundry basket for a few minutes every evening and sit down with a great book. It's a must for me to unwind, destress, and feel ready to take on the world the next day.

But how do you find a book club? There are so many options these days that I'm sure the perfect book club is out there for you. Not sure where to look? Here's some ideas.

Find an Online Book Club

I may be biased, but our Mom's Book Nook is the best online moms book club you'll find. We meet in a private Facebook group and chat about a new book every month. We announce the book selection on the first Monday of the month and discuss on the last Monday of the month at 9:00pm Eastern. We have a wonderful group of ladies who love books and we would love you have you join! Check us out here.

This month, we are reading Wreckage by Emily Bleeker. Wreckage is the gripping story of two plane crash survivors who are hiding a secret that could destroy their families. What really happened for the two years they were stranded on a deserted island? You'll have to read it to find out. Check it out below along with some of our past Mom's Book Nook book club selections.

If Mom's Book Nook doesn't work for you, you can search Facebook for other book clubs that may have a better time or fit.

Another great online resource is GoodReads.  Click here to browse thousands of groups and see if one is a good fit for you. GoodReads is a good option if your schedule is really erratic, because it operates more like discussion boards and not as a real time conversation. I prefer using a Facebook group because of the real time chat, but if that doesn't work for you, GoodReads may be your choice.

Find a Local Book Club

I found my first book club on Meetup.com. Meetup is awesome for searching groups in your local area tuned to your specific interests. I found a great book club with some really wonderful ladies, but do practice internet common sense when you use Meetup. Be sure to meet in a public place and don't give out too much personal information to people you don't know.

You can also check out your local library - many host book club meetings for adults. If not, ask your librarian about starting one.

Bookstores are also great places to find a book club. Many have monthly book club events, especially smaller independent stores.
