"Mom! Can I have a snack?"

Sound familiar? If your kids are anything like mine, you probably hear this a hundred times a day during summer break. Seriously, how can such little people be hungry all the time?

I'm all for snacks throughout the day. As long as they are healthy and well-portioned, snacking during the day keeps my active boys from getting "hangry" between meals. However, I'm not looking forward to constantly stopping what I'm doing to fix them a snack.

Since I'm also a firm believer in fostering independence, when the snack cravings hit this summer, I'm letting my kids help themselves with our new summer snack station.
