5 Places to Shop Online for Household Essentials (That Aren't Amazon)

My favorite places to get household essentials like groceries, cleaning products, and more delivered to your door.

When my twins were born, I became a quick expert on finding ways to shop online to have my household goods delivered. Going out to the store, loading up a cart, and transporting it home was way too daunting with two infants in tow.

Along the way I discovered lots of alternatives to big box retailers like Amazon and Walmart, with a great selection of products that I felt good about buying.

Then the coronavirus hit, schools closed, and we had to stay inside. While prices soared and shelves cleared, I found that I was still able to get what I needed delivered right to my door from my favorite places.

If you're trying to find alternatives to Amazon for your food and household deliveries, these are my favorite places to shop online (and what I buy from each one).

Please note: as this situation is fluid, I can't make any guarantees on inventory or delivery times. These are all places where I personally shop, both before and during the current shutdown. Visit each store for real-time updates on their shipping status.

Where to Shop for Household Products Online

Whether you're looking for toilet paper, fresh fruit, or even a bottle of wine, these are the places where I find what I need.

Household Essentials

Grove Collaborative

I have been a fan of Grove Collaborative for household essentials for years, and have placed several orders lately to stock up on the things we need right now.

You may think of Grove only for cleaning products like the FREE Mrs. Meyer's cleaning set that you get when you place your first $20 order, but Grove has so much more.

You can find household supplies like toilet paper (yes, they have it!) and paper towels along with personal care items like shampoo, soap, and toothpaste for yourself or for your kids. They also have a great selection of pet care products including pet treats and toys.

And when you place your first order here, you'll get a VIP trial which means free shipping and price matching on every product they sell, in addition to the FREE Mrs. Meyer's cleaning set.

Grove has been a no-brainer for my family right now. Click here to check them out and grab your free gift.

Force of Nature

My other go-to source for the house right now is Force of Nature. It is a must have for cleaning and disinfecting your entire home.

Force of Nature is an EPA-registered disinfectant that kills 99.9% of bacteria and viruses when used properly. And the best part is that it is completely non-toxic and safe to use around kids and pets.

Force of Nature is a little appliance that uses electricity to turn salt, water & vinegar into a multi-purpose cleaner, disinfectant and deodorizer. It's strong enough to kill bacteria and viruses just like bleach, but it has no toxic chemicals whatsoever. Plus it is EPA-registered with demonstrated effectiveness against viruses similar to COVID-19 on hard, non-porous surfaces. Click here for details.

Food and Grocery

Perdue Farms

I will admit that I had to wait longer than usual for my Perdue Farms delivery, but considering this shutdown is a marathon, not a sprint, it is definitely worth placing an order to stock up.

Perdue Farms is way more than just chicken. They have a wide selection of USA farmed meat, from organic chicken to beef and pork. They even have chicken nuggets and as we all know, if you're home with kids all day you better have a freezer full of nuggets. I love that we can have my kids' favorite Dino nuggets delivered right to our door.

Check out their awesome bundles to get the best value for your money.

Imperfect Foods

I started getting a weekly Imperfect Foods box a few months ago and I love having fresh fruits and vegetables delivered (and knowing that I am helping to reduce food waste too).

Imperfect Foods may be best known for produce, but they do have a selection of other items as well. The selection varies each week, and you can customize your box before it ships. I've stocked up on canned goods, granola, and snacks in addition to meat, dairy, and produce.

Click here to try Imperfect Foods and get $10 off your first delivery.

Second Nature

We're spending more time in our homes (all the time really!), so it's more important than ever to make sure our indoor air is clean. I'm terrible about remembering to change our air filters, which is why I love Second Nature. You can get the air filters you need delivered on your schedule, and your first order is absolutely free. Give them a try here.
