Feed the Panda! A fun way to learn numbers for kids and a great counting activity for preschoolers! Make snack time fun with these fun counting game - includes a free printable game board!

We are big cereal eaters in our house - not only to start the day together with a family breakfast, but for snacks too. It's always been one of my favorite ways to snack in the afternoon and now my kids are fans too. While walking down the cereal aisle at Walmart the other day, one of my boys spotted the new Kung Fu Panda Po Power Crunch and started asking for "panda bear cereal!" so we had to grab a box. The box was so adorable that I just had to turn it into a snack time activity to work on numbers for kids - and decided to use the cereal itself as part of the fun.

My boys are really into number activities right now, so I put together a game for them to practice counting to 10 while they "feed" the panda! We also picked up a bag of Berry Colossal Crunch - it makes a yummy snack too and can be used as your game pieces as well. Post has a variety of flavors to make everyone in the family happy.

To play Feed the Panda, you'll need:

Start by removing the bag of cereal from inside the box. Use scissors to cut off the top and bottom flaps of the empty cereal box. Then cut an opening in the bottom front of the box, large enough to slide one of your bowls inside.

Set one of the bowls inside the opening. Fill the other bowl with Kung Fu Panda cereal. Set out the bowls, box, and free printable game board and invite your children to play.

Encourage them to place the correct number of cereal pieces onto each numbered leaf on the game board. Then have them "feed" the cereal to the panda by putting the pieces into his bowl under the box. They can practice counting again as they feed him!

You can try several different variations of the game as well. My boys like to pick all of the marshmallows out of the bowl, and count from 1 to 10 as they put them on the game board.

You can also have them mark off each number as they go with the dot marker. Or, make the game even more challenging by having them put the cereal pieces onto a spoon and feed the panda without dropping any!

And of course, when you're done playing, you have a yummy snack to enjoy at any time of day.
