Make an Easter Egg Wall: Spring Activity for Toddlers

Make an Easter Egg Wall activity for toddlers! Fun way to look for Easter eggs inside.

Like the clock, my mind is springing forward to thoughts of lovely green lawns and Easter egg hunts... even though we just got a foot of snow and it's 10 degrees outside. Sigh. The cold won't stop my Spring fever today because we decided to have an indoor Easter egg hunt - on the wall!

Make an Easter Egg Wall activity for toddlers! Fun way to look for Easter eggs inside.

This activity came together very quickly - I was able to surprise my boys with it when they woke up in the morning knowing that it was going to be a stay in our PJs kind of day.  I already had everything I needed in my craft bin and it only took a couple of minutes to make.

To make an Easter Egg Wall, you will need:

  • Large piece of green felt. This will be your background, and you can make it as large or small as you'd like. Mine was 28" x 24".
  • Assorted pieces of felt. These will be your eggs, so choose spring colors and patterns.
  • Scissors
  • Painter's Tape
  • Easter basket or bin
Directions:

Cut your green felt to size and tape to the wall using painter's tape.

Using your colored felt, cut out several egg shapes. I cut out about 30 in just a couple of minutes - they don't have to be perfect!

Stick your eggs to the green background, set out your Easter basket, and invite your children to play!

I set this up in the morning so the boys saw it when they first came downstairs. They were immediately intrigued and shouted "Easter eggs!"

They loved finding all the eggs and putting them in the basket.

Once they were all in the basket, they wanted to put them back on the wall. They told me they were building a house out of eggs. You have to love a toddler's imagination!

This activity held my boys' attention all morning. They loved gathering their eggs and putting them in the basket, then making designs by putting the eggs back on the wall. This activity also provides opportunities for learning by talking about the colors of the eggs, their shape, and matching like eggs together.

We still can't wait for Spring to arrive and a chance to get outside for a real Easter egg hunt, but this will keep us occupied until the snow melts!
