Not a Creature Was Stirring: 10 Christmas Mouse Books for Preschoolers

10 Christmas Mouse Books for Kids! Find old favorites and some new Christmas books for kids featuring mouse characters. Your kids will love these!

From the famous opening of The Night Before Christmas, where "not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse," to "the one speck of food" the Grinch left behind that was "too small even for a mouse," mice have been featured in numerous beloved Christmas tales. My boys love mice and I'll admit to being quite fond of the little furry guys myself, so we are always on the lookout for Christmas books for kids that feature mice. I've picked out 10 Christmas mouse books for you, some that are our all time favorites and a few on our "to read" list.

10 Christmas Mouse Books for Kids

1. If You Take a Mouse to the Movies by Laura Numeroff. This one is our favorite. If you're a fan of Laura Numeroff's Mouse books you know that they are silly and fun, and this one is no exception. Check out our Glitter Popcorn Ornament Craft inspired by the book too!

2. Mortimer's Christmas Manger by Karma Wilson. You may know Karma Wilson best for her Bear books (we love Bear Stays Up for Christmas) and this one has the same heart. We love Mortimer, and how his quest for the perfect bed teaches him the true meaning of Christmas.

3. Christmas Mice by Bethany Roberts. This is a fun little book about a family of mice busily prepping for Christmas, and even making peace with the cat for the holiday. My boys love Christmas Mice.

4. Christmas Mouse by Anne Mortimer. Mouse has a lot to do as she gets ready for Christmas in this sweet story. I love the timeless look of the illustrations in this one.

5. Christmas with the Mousekins by Maggie Smith. The Mousekins enjoy all sorts of holiday fun in this wonderful book. Besides a cute story, this book is filled with crafts and recipes to try with your kids - so awesome! Christmas with the Mousekins would make a great gift for the crafty kid on your list.

6. Richard Scarry's Christmas Mice by Richard Scarry. I remember this one from my own childhood and I can't wait to share it with the boys!

7. Gingerbread Mouse by Katy Bratun. When Mouse's house is destroyed she goes looking for a new home, and finds a "sweet" place to call her own. This book is perfect to go along with a gingerbread house building (or eating) activity.

8. The Biggest Christmas Tree Ever by Steven Kroll. The boys love this one - a Christmas addition to "The Biggest Ever" series. It's perfect to read before you go pick out or put up your own Christmas tree.

9. Merry Christmas, Mr. Mouse by Caralyn Buehner. This is a brand new Christmas mouse book and I can't wait to read it! A #1 new release on Amazon, the reviews are fantastic and it's on our must read list.

10. Mouse's First Christmas by Lauren Thompson. Another one on our must read list, this book is billed as a take off on The Night Before Christmas. I can't wait to check it out!
