20 Nursery Rhyme Activities for Preschoolers

20 Nursery Rhyme activities plus a review of The Find It Book - an amazing new book from Margaret Wise Brown!

My boys love nursery rhymes. It is very rare to be in our house right now without hearing someone singing Humpty Dumpty or the Itsy Bitsy Spider. So when we opened a package with The Find It Book inside they could hardly contain their excitement! We have fallen in love with this book and it's easy to see why.

I received this book free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own. This post contains affiliate links. See my Disclosure Policy for details.

The Find It Book is a newly published work by Margaret Wise Brown, author of the classic and beloved Goodnight Moon (among so many others).  Ms. Brown left behind a trunk full of unpublished works after her death, and her sister has made them available for publication. The Find It Book is one of these undiscovered soon to be classics.

My boys loved The Find It Book. It's written like a poem, encouraging children to discover characters from classic nursery rhymes inside its pages. The illustrations are absolutely amazing, with intricate detail and a style that is reminiscent of another time. The book does not feel like a new publication at all, but rather a classic that has been around for generations.

What I loved most about The Find It Book is that it's an activity book too! The text encourages you to find the different characters who they are cleverly hidden on every page. Illustrator Lisa Sheehan has done a wonderful job creating a world for classic nursery rhyme characters and her drawings are delightful and fun.

Reading and exploring The Find It Book is an activity all to itself, but we were so inspired by the nursery rhyme characters inside that I went searching for more activities we could try! Below you'll find 20 activities based on our favorite characters from The Find It Book: Humpty Dumpty, the Itsy Bitsy Spider (or Incy Wincy), Hickory Dickory Dock, and Little Bo Peep.
