We love music. There's always a song playing and someone dancing in our house!
When you think of great composers, you might start with Beethoven and Brahms. But for us, the great masters of music are more like Lennon & McCartney or Jagger & Richards. And some of our favorite rock stars have written children's books, so in honor of some of these great songwriters I've pulled together a list of books for kids that really ROCK!

10 Kids Books that Rock
Forever Young by Bob Dylan, Illustrated by Paul Rogers. I love this book so, so much. The lyrics to one of Dylan's songs, "Forever Young" are beautifully illustrated by Bad Company's Paul Rogers. Several of Dylan's songs have been made into books, including If Dogs Run Free and Blowin' In the Wind but this is my favorite. (PS - Fans of TV's Parenthood will recognize Forever Young as its theme song).
Every Little Thing by Bob Marley & Cedella Marley. Bob Marley's daughter pairs the lyrics to Three Little Birds with happy illustrations showing a day in the life of a toddler. This is a really fun book for Marley fans young and old.
Outlaw Pete by Bruce Springsteen. If you know this song, you know this is a little darker than most children's books. Springsteen addresses this in the afterward, but you may want to wait until the kids are a little older for this one. Still, it's a great addition to a Springsteen fan's collection.
Octopus's Garden by Ringo Starr. This is one of my kids' favorite songs, and it translates well into a colorful picture book by the Beatles' drummer.
Yellow Submarine by The Beatles. Another favorite Beatles song that kids love becomes a super cool picture book. Adults and kids will get a kick out of this one!
Real Love: The Drawings for Sean by John Lennon. A lovely and happy tribute to his son, this collection of Lennon's drawings for his little boy will delight Beatles fans young and old.
High in the Clouds by Paul McCartney. Paul McCartney is a well known animal lover and it shows in his first children's book, a fun adventure featuring all sorts of silly animal friends.
Going to the Zoo by Tom Paxton. Songwriter Tom Paxton gives us a classic song with wonderful illustrations by Karen Lee Schmidt. This is one of those songs my kids love that sticks in my head all day, and they LOVE this book version!
Waking Up is Hard to Do by Neil Sedaka. Prolific songwriter Neil Sedaka gives us a super fun twist on his classic song "Breaking Up is Hard to Do." Little kids will love this and it's a great book for back to school time!
